Christmas Tag

I normally do not make tags for Christmas presents.  However, I thought I would give it a try this year.  I love the candy cane stamp.  I colored the red with Cherry Cobbler from Stampin up.  Then I used stickles for the glittery effect on the candy cane to bring them to life.  Two tags were created and will be used on the special Christmas gifts for my hubby!

Just Blowin' Off Steam

Some days, we love to talk with our closet friend to just blow off some steam!  This adorable stamp set from Gina K. Designs is a cute way to express the appreciation for the open ear of a friend.  The paper is from Gina K. Design, and the tag embellishment was made using the Silhouette Cameo.  I intentional left the inside of the card blank so I could write a personal note to the recipient.

As you can tell, I carried the theme of the card inside with a larger T-Shirt tag.  I  left a T-shirt tag blank to write a short but sweet note.

My first creation with Vinyl-November 14, 2014

I am officially addicted to Vinyl!  I love it!  This is my first creation.  I found the idea on Pinterest and had to try it out!  I bought the white pumpkin from a local farm, found Brown vinyl at Michaels and made my Thanksgiving pumpkin for the festivities! If you have not tried Vinyl, it is a must!

Sewing Theme Birthday!

For my mother's birthday, I have decided to have a sewing theme party!  I created this adorable spool card for her birthday.  Inside, it says to have a "sew" special birthday, and is decorated with sewing form paper.  In addition to the card, I made a few other items for the party.

What is a birthday party without a birthday banner?  Not just a plain birthday banner either, a spool birthday banner with a random sewing needle going through some of the spools of thread! It is all about the details.

Then I took a leap into the unknown:

Pincushion jars filled with her favorite candy.  These were rather easy - so it was a small leap!  You take fabric, draw a circle larger than the top.  Fill with some batting, fold over the material around the top of the jar lid and hot glue, put on the ring of the mason jar, and fill with candy!  It is also a great idea for mini sewing kits too!  Plus it is super fast and easy!  The tutorial for the pincushion jars can be found on this Make it & Love it blog.  Now to the biggest leap of my crafting life....

A sewing machine cake!  I am terrible at icing a cake, so this was a challenge.  My good friend, Angie Tolbert, made the buttons and the spool!  These are super cute!  The cake was made using an 11 x 15 pan.  I cut a template out using the silhouette cameo of a sewing machine.  This was transferred to a cardboard template.  Then place on the cake and cut out!  Next came making the homemade buttercream icing, and working with the icing to make a  semi-smooth icing job!  Next I decorated using a writing gel pen, and Oreo cookies for the turn knobs of the sewing machine.  The needle is actual a cake testing needle which can be removed before cutting the cake.  Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a "sew" special day!

Picture Perfect Birthday! - September 23, 2014

My dear friend, Beth, celebrated her birthday this month.  Of course, I had to make a card for her that was unique.  All you crafters out there in craftland understand where I am coming from on specializing your cards!  Beth is a scrapbooker!  She is also starting to make her own cards and I hope to get her into blogging her crafts soon, and playing contest.  Since I know she scrapbooks and loves her family, I made a birthday card with a scrapbook layout for her! Of course, I had to use camera theme paper because you cannot scrapbook without pictures!  The inside of the card says "Have a Picture Perfect Birthday!"   Happy Birthday, Beth, and to everyone else, thanks for stopping by!

Fall Wreath

Since last year, I have been contemplating making a fall wreath.  I even went out an bought the Styrofoam wreath a year ago.  I finally sat down and made the wreath and used up some of my stash around the house.  First, I used some orange yarn left over from making a Virginia Tech hat.  I covered the entire wreath in the yarn.

In the midst of covering the wreath, I started cutting out the leaves using my silhouette cameo.  I believe you could also cut out the leaves with a cricuit or a die cut - if you want to make one. Some of the leaves are made with pattern papers and the other leaves are made of solid paper that I embossed through my Cuttlebug.

The final touch was my acorns.  Just a nice contrast to the background of leaves.  I embossed the tops of the acorn to make them look more realistic.  Thanks for stopping by!

I made this card for  my husband's birthday.  He has a garden, and every year he spends time chasing away the gopher who tries to eat all of the food he has grown.  It is always funny watching him chasing him away.   I thought it would be so appropriate to have a gopher on his card!  The image is from Whipper Snapper.

Another teacher card for this year!  I cased this card over at over at SugarPea Designs by Wendy.  Of course, I used a project life card for the paper, and sticker tiles for the card.  I really loved how it turned out!  I stuck with her original paper colors, because they are so perfect!  I used different designer paper, and decided that I did not want to use any ribbon.  Thanks for stopping by!

Removable Bookmark

I made this card with a removable bookmark.  The bookmark is the embellishment on the card.  I thought a removable bookmark paired well with the image!  The image is from The East Wing etsy store.  She is marvelous, and I cannot imagine having all of that hair!  However, I love it!  This will be a great card to send to a friend who loves to read!  Not only do they receive a card, but a bookmark too!

I am dedicating this card to Linda Palmer, my blog friend, who has suddenly passed away!  She always left me such encouraging comments about my cards, and I loved looking at her blog every week.  She could color marvelously!   I am going to miss her because she always provided inspiration for me!  It is a great reminder to not take life for granted.  Cherish everyone around you!

This card was created for the Administrative Assistant in our office.  She does a lot of work to keep the office moving smoothly.  I love the Retro feel to this card!  It takes me back to typing class.  One thing which I do not miss is having to type perfectly with those carbon papers.  It is great to have computers now!  However, I still love the look of a typewriter.  The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches!  It was the perfect sketch to showcase this theme! Let Your Dreams Take Flight!

In 2004, I went for a ride in a hot air balloon.  It was such a fun adventure!  It was amazing how crystal clear things on earth sound as you are floating above them.  This balloon ride was a dream come true for my father, who had always wanted to ride in one.  What is your dream?  You should let it take flight!  Do not waste time, Do not let fear hold you back - just go for it!

Hello

Hello everyone!  Today, I made a card with one of my favorite color combos - black and pink!  To top it all off, I just love polka dots!  How about you? I remember in the 80s, I had a black and pink polka dotted outfit that I truly loved along with matching socks.  We use to layer about 2 to 3 pairs of socks and scrunch them down.  How I wish I could go back in time just for a day or two!  Anyway, is there anyone out there that you need to say HELLO too!  If so, call them on the phone or send them a note!  Thanks for stopping by!

Watts Up? - March 7, 2014

Watts Up?  Are you going to miss the old incandescent light bulbs?  I sure am going to miss them and soon they will be so retro!  The florescent light bulbs are just not the same, and the new LED - well I am getting use to them.  When I saw this cool sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, it had me thinking!  I knew I wanted to use a light bulb, but could not decide on the pattern paper.  Then I struggled with how to layout the sketch.  For three days, I pondered this sketch and just like flicking on the light switch, it all came to light! Playtime Traveling - March 4, 2014

Do you remember as a child when you were playing it transported you to another place?  You can travel anywhere you want to be just through your imagination.  I remember riding my bike and acting like it was a car.  I would go around in my yard on my bike to the bank, the grocery store, and all those places that the adults in my life went too just through my imagination.   Those times were so much fun and made me happy!  One goal this year is for my husband and I to rent bikes and go for a ride in one of our state parks.   Thanks for traveling by my blog today!  I hope you are blessed in your travels!
