My Favorite Things - Contemporary Challenge

My Favorite Things stamping company had a challenge this week whose theme was contemporary. I decided to use the Digital Girl for the main stamp and the saying from the Who's that E Girl stamp set because not only did I make the card for the challenge, but I made the card to reveal myself as someone's secret sister in a card kit swap this month. The two projects merged into one made it more interesting. I used Close to My Heart designer paper, SU ribbon, SU Regal Rose ink and SU Brocade Blue ink, pop up dots, SU watercolor pencils, Primsa Watercolor pencils and my blender pen. I hope my secret sister enjoys the card!

Stephanie's Birthday Card

My good friend, Stephanie, had a birthday in October and I made her this card using my Sugar Nellie Stamp. I probably bought this stamp over a year ago and found it hiding in all my craft supplies when I re-organized my craft room. I used stickles, chalk, water color pencils, designer paper and fun flock for the flowers. The saying is Growing Old is Mandatory but Growing up is Optional. We have to be grown up sometimes, but our crafts take us back to being young!

Family Halloween Cards 2009

I have been busy in my new craft room. I have been working with My Favorite Thing Stamps (which I love, they are up there on my favorite thing list). I worked hard on giving the lady a spider dress while she serves the tricker treaters spiders. I added some other spiders hanging around. I enjoyed making this card even though it took two nights of brain storming and working hard.

The Craft Room

The craft room is finally put together. We painted the drabby neutral walls 2 tones of green and added chair railing for an accent. I will enjoy this room for a little while. I put together my desk and organized it which took several days! However, stamping now is so much easier and I assume scrapbooking will be too. I plan on making a couple of Christmas gifts here along with my Christmas cards for the year.

MFT Disco Challenge

I have really loved this MFT Disco Challenge this week! I worked on this card inside my mind for about two days. I envisioned a young 20 something girl coming home from the disco to her 70 style apartment with her own disco ball. She flips off her shoes, throws them across the room and calls her best friend to talk about all the happenings of the night.

Congrats for Making Chief

Bryan and I made this card together for one of our friends, Chris, who made Chief in the Navy this month. We are really proud of him and we hope that when he receives the card - it will make him happy!

First, I had to search on the internet because I wanted a symbol that represented his new position. Then Bryan sketched out an anchor for me. We used string for the rope and my cricuit to cut out the USN letters. The card is not perfect, it is hard to assemble all those parts with all that glue, but I hope he will just enjoy the thought! I think this was the most challenging card I have ever made.

Trick or Treat with Who's That Girl

I love MFT stamp sets! I loved getting the new :Trick or Treat with Who's That Girl" stamp set and trying out some new techniques.

I tried out paper piercing on her dress and the floor. I made my own hershey kisses as the treats with linen paper, added a little pumpkins to make them pop out on the page. I also had to make her shoes with a little bling, but a little Halloweeny at the same time. I colored the wall paper with watercolors, but used a SU marker for the dots on the wall paper.

This is a fun set!

Baby Shower Card

One of my fiance's friends is having a baby and I was invited to the baby shower. I really wanted to make a different card and came across this idea on splitcoaststampers from the member LilLuvsStampin (New Baby and Monkey Moe).

I used Doodlebug Designer paper and Papertray ink white paper. I cut my circle for the carriage out with my Creative Memories Circle Cutter. I used Creative Memories Heart Punch, Stampin Up Scallop Punch for the wheels and scallop scissors for the trim on the carriage. I accented the wheels with baby blue buttons.

The stamp sets I used where Close to My Heart Solo "L", Close to My Heart Beary Much, and Stampin Up All Around Alphabet Lower and Upper Case.

It was fun design to make!

I made my mother this card about a month before Mother's Day. It was a very relaxing task after a stressful day! I really enjoyed the bright colors and the fun flock on the flowers! I love My Favorite Things stamps!

Easter 2009

Wow! I have not made a card in two months! I am so happy to get back into the crafting mode! Today I made two easter cards using my Close to My Heart Stamp Set called Beautiful Spring. I embossed each egg in a different embossing color powder. I cut each egg out and layered them using dimensional dots. My card base is Papertray Ink White and it is layered with Doodlebug Bubblegum cardstock. I used some ribbons I found at Michaels and the Stampin Up Metal Tag. I really enjoyed how these cards turned out and I cannot wait for my mother and future mother-in-law to get them on Easter. HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

My Favorite Things Designer Challenge for February 7, 2009

I decided to participate in the My Favorite Things Designer Challenge. I have fallen in love with My Favorite Things stamps. My Secret Sister from the February Swap gave me this stamp called "Call Me" and I love it!!! It reminds me of being a teenager and talking on the phone to all my friends for hours!

The main colors for the challenge were : Pink, Black, White, Grey, Brown
I choose Pink, Black, White and Grey.

I used Black Stazon Ink to stamp the words "Call Me" across the ribbon and the huffing technique which allows me to blend the colors as if everything was real and no outlined image. I also used cotton candy stickles to give it a little bling!

Baby Cards

I have been wanting to try and make this card since I saw it in Papercrafts Magazine in the March 2008 edition. I never had the supplies and needed a sewing machine to make the card. However, after many attempts of trying to sew the card with straight lines I gave up and decided to do my own thing. I used cuttlebug embossed paper for both cards as a background. Instead of sewing the rattle handle, I paper pierced it.

Valentine Mailbox & Mini Card Set with matching envelopes

My great friend, Stephanie, picked up some adorable mailboxes from Target for me to alter! Thank you so much Stephanie! I am only posting one on this blog until after Valentine's day because the other mailboxes are gifts. I made this mailbox by using the tutorial at Stamping and Stuff. The paper is by K&C Company. I thought it was so appropriate because it looks like postage stamps. I found the cutest little heart clips at Michaels in the dollar bin that I have used to put on the little flag on the mailbox. I used my Close to My Heart Stamp Set Solo L with Stazon Ink to stamp "love" on both sides of the heart. I used pink ribbon and everything is held together with Stampin Up Sticky Strip.
I took it a step further and made the 3 little mini cards with matching envelopes to put inside the box. I thought I might stick some candy in there because it is Valentine's day :). The little cards are 3 x 4. I used a variety of stamp sets listed below. I thought these mini cards would be great when someone wants to give another person a little pick-me-up for the day.

Stamp Sets: Close to My Heart "Solo L" and "Beary Much"; Stampin Up "Moose You"; and Stampin Up "Alphabet Soup", Stampin Up Chocolate Chip Wheel
Ink: Stazon Black, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa
Paper: Stampin Up Pretty In Pink; Stampin Up Creamy Caramel; Stampin up 2006Cool Caribbean; K&C Company Specialty Paper; Papertray Ink White Paper
Accessories: Pink Ribbon, Michael's $1 clip on hearts, Stampin Up Sticky Strip

A break from the cold weather!

I really need a break from the cold wintery weather that we have been having lately. I decided to use my Stampin Up Upsy Daisy stamp set to bring a little spring into my life. I just used the huffing technique with my Stampin Up markers. I think it turned out looking like a glimpse of spring.

Stamp Set: Upsy Daisy

Getting the Craft Room Organized!

Since Christmas, I have been trying to sort through my craft/office room. Part of this time, I was sick and unable to do anything. I got this cool new embellishment center for Christmas that really helped saved space in my closet and makes a great accent to the craft room. My desk area is used for crafting as well as an 8ft table which is not in these pictures. Then I have my craft closet which is not the best organized closet in the world - still trying to figure that out, but my items are easy to get to which I love!
